Weekly Planning Search - Jun 9th 2010
95530 - 14 FAIRLEA ROAD
registration date:
No date
Location: 1st left on Marsh Lane
after East Hill roundabout. House
is at top of hill on R
Proposal: Two-storey side
extension (INVALID 8.6.10 Heidi),
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 8, others
4
History: 91535 - 09/01/2008 - two storey side extn;
conservatory to rear - granted in the name of Miss Bradley Watson. The current application is in the name of Mr
and Mrs R Grealish
Comment: For some unstated reason
this application to extend one half of a semi-detached house has been invalidated.
What became of the 2008 application is unknown.
The question in the application form "Has the work started"
is answered by a cross on the NO box. A
neighbour comments: "Not too aware of planning rules
however felt that you submitted an application when passed proceded to build
with checks on build carried out during progress of build. I see that the
above looks quite complete, foundations done, roof on etc. Please advise me as I am unsure if you want
me to comment on finish or what ? Have
planning laws changed?".
Recommendation: emphatically
none!
95452 - Land of CANNON COURT, HIGH STREET
registration date:
25/05/2010
Location: off lower car park
Proposal: Use as car park
in association with Stanwell House Hotel; raise part of car park; new wall;
railings; steps; 5 planters
Statutory Class: Minor Retail distribution & servicing
Consulted: neighbours 4, others
9
History: none
Comment: The plan is to build a
retining wall on the E side to allow the area to be levelled above the footpath,
and to resurface it with gravel, which should stop the mess currently created
by migrating pea shingle. Looks
thoroughly sensible
Recommendation: no action
95567 - 5 GROVE PASTURES
registration date:
18/05/2010
Location: Half way up the hill,
overlooking Grove Gardens
Proposal: Retention of extension
to detached garage
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 6, others
6
History: 94590 - 16/11/2009 - Extension to detached garage - granted with conditions
90279 - 14/08/2007 - Single storey extension to existing garage - granted with conditions
Comment: This retrospective
application is an amendment to 94590, to cover further extensions of 0.8
metres in depth and 2 metres in width.
The visual consequences are almost indiscernible
Recommendation: No action
95583 - ALBIN HOUSE, WATERFORD CLOSE
registration date:
19/05/2010
Location: N side of the Close at
E end
Proposal: Single-storey
rear extension
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 6, others
6
History: 91468 -19/12/2007 - first floor side extn
- granted
Comment: This Close has been massively
and densely redeveloped, and some of the new addresses are now on the list
of consultees - though one is addressed to "Springmead", now demolished,
which suggests that the NFDC are not right up with the game. 91468 was granted for an extension facing the
road, but abandoned when Pennyfarthings started building opposite. The new application is for a room on the opposite,
or garden side.
Recommendation: No action
95606 - 9 ST THOMAS STREET
registration date:
24/05/2010
Location: The pet shop (5 west
of M&S, S side)
Proposal: Door
to create seperate entrance to retail area & flats
Statutory Class: Other minor development
Consulted: neighbours 2, others
8
History:
Comment: The plan is to put a new door into the street
frontage immediately L of the exisitng door, so that occupants of the flats
above can have direct access from the street without having to go through
the pet shop. Looks all right on
the drawings, but this is part of the Conservation Area (though not listed)
Recommendation: No action
- but other views welcome
95659 - 25 WATERLOO ROAD
registration date:
24/05/2010
Location: SD house in long narrow
plot on W side, opposite N end of Bill Green's boat shed
Proposal: Rear
dormer in association with new second floor
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 7, others
7
History: 94975 - 18/12/2009 - Dormer and rooflight
in association with new second floor - refused
Comment: 94975 was refused as out of character with the
surrounding (conservation) area. I
commented then "A small modern house described in the design statement
as "plain", the proposal is to install a third bedroom in the
loft, with a dormer to the rear (ie W) side and a flush roof light to the
E. This seems unlikely to threaten the surrounding
Conservation Area". This
is a modified proposal intended to overcome the reasons for the earlier
refusal, to which the same comment applies.
Recommendation: No action
registration date:
24/05/2010
Location: One of the shops a few
yards SE of The Square.
Proposal: Use as restaurant
and takeaway (Use Classes A3 & A5),,
Statutory Class: Change of Use
Consulted: neighbours 14, others
9
History: none
Comment: The intention is
to expand the shop's activities from A1 (selling cold food) to include A3
and A5 so that hot and cold food can be consumed on and off the premises. The D & A Statement claims that it should
add some vitality to Pennington's shopping area, which is probably true.
Recommendation. No action - PRA may have a view
