Weekly Planning Search - Jul 7th 2010
95780 - PLOT 14 OLD ORCHARDS off BROAD LANE
registration
date: 21/06/2010
Location: Near the centre of the
site behind Anchorage Way
Proposal: House; garage;
garage for Plot 15
Statutory Class: Minor Dwellings
Consulted: neighbours 10, others
9
History: This is the 13th separate
recent application for a single house on this site, for which consent (for
smaller houses) was originally given in 1987.
Comment: A large house in a surprisingly (by Prescottian
standards) large garden. Given the
precedents there is no point in commenting or objecting.
Recommendation: No action
95784 - DRAKES, ALL SAINTS ROAD
registration
date: 21/06/2010
Location: near the junction with
Waterford Lane/Brook Road
Proposal: Replace flat roof
with pitched roof
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 5, others
7
History: none
Comment: Seen from the road the house already has a pitched
roof. Apparently there is a long flat-roofed
garage behind to which the application refers. Recommendation: No action
95788 - 40 ST THOMAS STREET (Conservation
Area)
registration
date: 22/06/2010
Location: Amanini, opposite M&S
Proposal: Ground floor -
remove internal walls; create WC; block up doorway: First floor - stud work
partition to form ensuite (Application for Listed Building Consent)
Statutory Class: Listed Building consents (alter/extend)
Consulted: neighbours 7, others
8
History: none
Comment: The proposals are for internal alterations
to the shop and the living accommodation above it. There will be no change
to the exterior of the building or its use as a shop.
Recommendation: No action
95750 - SEISDON, SWAY ROAD
registration
date: 24/06/2010
Location: near the gasholder on
the Sway road
Proposal: Single-storey
rear extension
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 1, others
4
History: 95235 - 12/02/2010 - Removal of Condition
2 of Planning Permission 58232 to allow roof area to be incorporated into
dwelling house as habitable accommodation - refused (delegated)
Comment: The owners want more accommodation.
The previous application was refused because:
" . .
the area of roof space that could be converted into habitable floorpsace
would take the dwelling over the 100 square metres limit permitted within
policy CO-H2 . . creating
an imbalance in the housing stock and prejudice meeting local needs."
This proposal seeks to stay within the 100 square metre limit.
Recommendation: No action
95809 - 27 SOUTH STREET, PENNINGTON
registration
date: 24/06/2010
Location: near junction with Holme
Close
Proposal: One & two-storey
rear extensions
Statutory Class: Householder developments
Consulted: neighbours 5, others
4
History: none
Comment: This appears (the plans are not very clear)
to be a sensible addition to a fairly substantial house.
Recommendation: No action
95716 - 6 ELLERY GROVE
registration
date: 25/06/2010
Location: A long, irregularly shaped
N-S plot off the Grove behind buildings fronting onto Lower Buckland Road
Proposal: 4 dwellings comprising
1 three-storey block of 3 flats; 1 detached house; access; parking; demolition
of existing
Statutory Class: Minor Dwellings
Consulted: neighbours 21, others
9
History: 92471 - 16/06/2008 - 1 detached triple garage; 1 single
detached garage - granted(delegated)
Comment: This proposal rings alarm
bells. The proposed 3-storey buildings
would be squashed into the N end of the site, whose S end contains the garage
allowed under 92471 (and abuts the site of the Tithe Barn site which is likely
to be refused again for over-development).
As yet there is no design and access statement or case officer's initial
report so it is difficult to form a firm conclusion
Recommendation: Keep
under review
95544 - Land of 5 CONIFER CRESCENT, PENNINGTON
registration
date: 25/06/2010
Location: Off Wainsford Road
Proposal: House
Statutory Class: Minor Dwellings
Consulted: neighbours 44, others
8
History: none
Comment: The aim is to build a
modern 5-storey house in the (big) garden.
The house will be big and tall and (given that the Common nearby is
in the National Park) pretty conspicuous.
Two representations, from addresses in Southampton and Avenue Roads
support it for its architectural merit: one
from a neighbour deplores it for its style size and other reasons.
In a way it is a miniature of the Webbs site;
an architect's vision against a traditional preference.
Recommendation: We need
a view from the PRA
95801 - UNIT 17, LYMINGTON ENTERPRISE CENTRE,
AMPRESS LANE
registration
date: 28/06/2010
Location: Ampress
Proposal: 2 windows to first
floor rear elevation; 1 window to first floor front elevation
Statutory Class: Other minor development
Consulted: n/a
History: 89460 - 20/03/2007
- Additonal mezzanine floor; 2 windows - granted (delegated).
Comment: The case officer
says: "The proposal would meet
Core Strategy objectives for fostering the well-being of the local economy.
Given the modest nature of this proposal and its limited impact, the proposal
is recommended for permission."
Recommendation: No action
