95002 and 95003 - STANWELL HOUSE HOTEL, 14-15 HIGH STREET (listed building in Conservation Area)

registration date:  23 / 12 / 2009

Location:  well inside the site

Proposal:  Single-storey rear extension

Statutory Class: Other minor development/Listed Building consents (alter/extend)

Consulted:  neighbours 21, others 16 (including the British Horse Society!)

Comment:  Described as a "Proposed Extension to Kitchen to form Chefs Office, Cold Store and Fire Exit. Reinstatement of Bedroom, Conversion of Existing Conference Room to form two Suites.", the plans have no external visual impact as seen from the High Street and the heritage aspects may be safely left to the planners

Recommendation:  No action

95043 - UNIT 3, RIVERSIDE BUSINESS PARK, GOSPORT STREET

registration date:  22 / 12 / 2009

Location:  Behind Canterbury House

Proposal:  Single-storey side extension

Statutory Class: Minor Offices/R&D/light industry

Consulted:  neighbours 43, others 11

Comment:  93990 of April last year sought permission to demolish Units 1, 2 and 3 of the Riverside Business Park because the then owner didn't want to pay for their maintenance.   The application was withdrawn.   Unit 3 at least (and the plans imply that that includes all three units, but it isn't clear) has been acquired by the Wallrock brothers for use by their antique furniture business, and the application seeks to extend the building slightly.   The buildings are ugly, but being low and behind Canterbury House are invisible from Gosport Street and Waterloo Road.

Recommendation:  No action
