94792 - LYMINGTON SPORTS GROUND ST THOMAS PARK

registration date:  03 / 02 / 2010

Location:  Near the pavilion

Proposal:  Temporary siting of a portacabin for a period of 2 years

Statutory Class: Minerals Processing

Consulted:  neighbours 117, others 15

History:  none

Comment:  The Town Council want to put a portacabin near the pavilion "for the storage of equipment ancillary to the sports ground" until the pavilion itself can be adapted for such use.

Recommendation:  No action

95077 and  95078 - 29 HIGH STREET (Formerly described as "land adjacent to Navarino Court)

registration date:  01 / 02 / 2010

Location:  Our old friend next to Navarino Court

Proposal:  Single-storey rear extension; external staircase

Statutory Class: Other minor development

Consulted:  neighbours 27, others 21

History:  91249 (refused, appeal dismissed), 92065 (refused, appeal dismissed) and 93779 (refused, "yet to be appealed" according to the current application's Design and Acess Statement)

Comment:  Some people never give up.   This latest proposal is for a single-storey rear extension to the coffee shop at 29 High Street, with access through the coffee shop and an external staircase to give access to the flats to be created in the existing upper floors of No 29.   (This makes it appear under a different address in the NFDC website, but it is the same site as the earlier applications).   Whether the single storey makes it more acceptable is difficult to judge (it has to be admitted that it is a bit of a dump at present)   There is already one objection on the website.

Recommendation:   Derek and/or Nic to look and recommend

95136 - 22 WESTERN ROAD

registration date:  02 / 02 / 2010

Location:  Terrace house in long narrow plot half way along N side of Western Road

Proposal:  Dormers in association with new second floor

Statutory Class: Householder developments

Consulted:  neighbours 7, others 4

History:  none

Comment:  This looks like an attic conversion with large boxy dormers on both sides of the ridge.   Not very pretty, but it's not a listed building or a conservation area and such conversions are not unusual, so I don't think the Society should oppose it on aesthetic grounds.

Recommendation:  No action

95158 - 4 LINDEN WAY PENNINGTON

registration date:  01 / 02 / 2010

Location:  One of a number of similar houses near the junction with Highfield Road

Proposal:  Single-storey side & rear extension; detached garage (Lawful Development Certificate that permission is not required for proposal)

Statutory Class: Notifications

Consulted:  neighbours 0, others 4

History:  93553 (January 2009, refused), 94103 (June 2009, refused, appeal dismissed)

Comment:  The two previous applications were refused and dismissed at appeal mainly on grounds of the effect on neighbours.   This latest application, which is of lower height, claims to be within the limits of Lawful Development and seeks a certificate to prove it.   Let the planners decide.

Recommendation:  No action
